Emancipation of Woman

Social Campaign

On 6th August 2018 we organized a social campaign around the theme of woman emancipation at Luis de Camões Square, in Lisbon.

We distributed more than 250 flowers to female population and similar amount of water and snacks to the passers-by. The author Dr. Surinder K. Datta promoted his recently published book, The Veiled Woman and Other Stories From India, as its around a similar theme. With launch of the the book scheduled shortly, it was a great moment for him to meet avid readers and fans.

The gathering was comprised of different members of the Association Dom Fafe, local population and foreign visitors. The square was filled with yellow flowers that brought a smile on many female participants. Under a hot summer day with temperature reaching almost 40º serving free water was definitely a right choice. During lunch hour, we also distributed free snacks, samosas ou chamuças, to the participants. All the team, along with well-wishers later met for an Indian meal.

We personally thank all the support we got from:

Junta de Freguesia de Misericordia, Lisbon

Florineve, Montijo

Natraj Indian Restaurant, Lisbon

Lidl, Benedita

MOS, Portugal

We also thank profoundly all the visitors, the volunteers and our friends for their keen interest, participation, hard work and support, with special reference to Sr. Henrique Pinto.

WE SHALL BE BACK SOON WITH SIMILAR EVENTS.
