Saikiran Datta

Began his academic pursuit as a scholar for Instituto Camões and Fundação Oriente for the Portuguese Language and Culture Course at the Faculty of Letters, at the University of Coimbra in 1995-1997. The following years he completed his graduation as a Qualified Teacher from Escola Superior de Educação e Ciências Sociais – Instituto Politécnico de Leiria, in 2001. Went on to pursue a Masters degree in Museology and Cultural Heritage from the Faculty of Letters, University of Coimbra, (2004-2008) with dissertation on Rural Heritage with case studies from Óbidos. Developed research based projects on cultural heritage, taking again the case of the villages of Óbidos, namely Project PAO (initial inventory and sensibilization), Project Water (Study and Inventory of Water Structures) and Project Rural Farm enclosures (Inventory and Study). Besides, he was part of the Heritage Management Department of Óbidos Council and held the position as Heritage Fiscal for Local Technical Department responsible for Heritage Conservation and Maintenance of Obidos town and villages. Author of various opinion articles for the regional papers, he also published a book on rural heritage as part of a European Union funded project. Has also participated in various seminars and conferences relating to Cultural Heritage. He was member of research bodies: CIID, Instituto Politécnico de Leiria and CRIA, ISCTE. Also pursued initially the Doctoral Programme in Anthropology.
