José Cavadas

Born in 1960, José Cavadas began playing chess at an early age under his father's guidance. Soon he became a federated player and started undertaking several projects related to chess. He attended several courses that allow him to teach Chess at the school level. His teaching career has shown lasting and positive results that spread over a period of more than four decades. He has been duly recognition by the Portuguese Ministry of Education. In the year 2000, he joined the Board of the Portuguese Chess Federation, and received, from the Sports Confederation, the title of "Personality of the Year in Chess". In 2006, he took over as the Vice-President of the Leiria Chess Association. Since November 2009, he has held the position of National Coordinator for teaching chess as part of school programme. He is the founder of the Peão Cavalgante Association where he runs a training academy.
